Feliz 18!!

VIVA CHILE!

Fun Saturday afternoon

It was raining this morning.  The weather was waying me down - it was wet, humid, dark and cloudy. What a terrible day for a boat cruise on the Han River in the middle of Seoul. Despite being a bit under the weather and hungover (oops!), I decided to dress up, look fabulous and head out to the river boat cruise for Seoul Club and Pieroth Wines. A wonderful lady friend of mine, Anne, gave me the ticket to attend and I thought it would be a good opportunity to rub shoulders (elbows??) with the fancy ex-patriot community of Seoul.

I left the house feeling pretty fabulous about myself - I love days like that! My hair was cooperating and the outfit I picked out, I thought, was just perfect for an afternoon river cruise. (How can you go wrong with a shawl?) I made my way down to the river on subway - only about a half hour ride (door to door) and was happy to see the weather was clearing up. Hark, 'tis the sun yonder?

As a single woman, I must often attend events alone. I was a little scared of not knowing anyone but quickly saw some familiar faces. I even made a friend on my way there - he was gracious enough to let me cling to him for the first half hour or so before I met some other people. His name is Q (like the letter) and owns a restaurant in Itaewon, the foreigner's neighbourhood in Seoul.  Once on the boat, I dug into the finger foods and free wine.  The food was great and the wines from Pieroth were delicious - if you haven't ever tried a wine slushie... try it, they're quite good! I met some interesting people and rubbed elbows (shoulders??) with some big wigs - I even gave out a few of my cards. I'll be meeting with the CEO of a French-Korean on-line marketing company this week for lunch... who knew we worked right next door to each other?  Overall, it was a great way to spend a Saturday afternoon. But I've had a little too much wine, so it's time for a nap. (HICCUP!)
