Protesting the loss of Korea in the World Cup

Too much frustration and too much soju.  "This'll show them."

And then there was rain...

Well... up until now, we have had wonderful weather. Today, unfortunately, it appears as though the monsoon season has begun. It should last about two weeks. Rain, rain, rain and more rain. Followed by stiffling heat and humidity. More rain and more heat and more humidity makes Korea a very claustrophic place to be.

I have pictures of Korea during nice days with me & my friends in Seoul & in Suwon.

Five more weeks until my parents arrive in the ROK, though. That's exciting!

World Cup Fever

World Cup 2006 is upon us and Koreans have been gearing up for it for quite some time now. It's great to be a part of the crowd and the hoopla surrounding the event. Last night was Korea's first game, versus Togo, and I'm happy to say they won 2-1!!! I ended up cheering on Korea from the middle of the street in downtown Seoul - not too far from my house. It was a fabulous time. There were about two million people in the area sitting down on the street and cheering on the team on the giant screen TVs.  The best thing about all of this is the wonderful crowd - it was a festive event and despite the beer and soju being passed around, it was a very peaceful gathering for the sake of national pride.

GO KOREA!!
Tae-han-ming-gu!!! Tae-han-ming-gu!!!
GO REDS!!

I walked home from City Hall, with my devil horns on and passers by were impressed with the way-guk (foreigner) cheering on the Korean team. (Little did they know that I'm a BRAZIL fan!!!) It was a fabulous evening and I'm hoping to enjoy all the festivities - even in the wee hours of the morn.

What will happen if Brazil & Korea go into the finals together? I'll be so torn!!
